Back to work…. urgh!
Every January we play the same game.
We have a delightful holiday, spend that time considering our options, what is our next step, and our dream job - all while having Uncle Colin in our ear about crypto, NFT’s or some pyramid scheme he’s dreamed up, we come back to work after the Christmas break with a thud of reality.
This got us thinking…
What are some of the key things you can do in January to set your people up for a successful year at work?
The start of the New Year is a great time to reset and refocus your team on achieving their goals for the year. To set your people up for success, you should consider implementing the following plans, frameworks, and processes.
First, it’s important to have a well-defined plan for the year.
This should include clearly communicated goals and expectations, along with the resources and guidance team members need to achieve them.
Creating a timeline for accomplishing tasks and milestones can also help ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same objectives.
Second, consider introducing initiatives that keep staff engaged, motivated, and productive.
This could include offering rewards and recognition for a job well done, introducing team-building activities, and encouraging collaboration.
Providing access to professional development opportunities is also important for helping employees stay up to date with industry trends.
Finally, it’s important to maintain a positive and supportive work atmosphere.
This includes ensuring that employees feel appreciated for their hard work, as well as providing a platform for open communication and feedback.
This can help keep your staff happy and motivated, even after an amazing summer holiday break.
Note that January is a time that a lot of staff look for new jobs – so nip this in the bud and make sure your people love coming to work every day and wouldn’t dream of looking at those thousands of job ads!
There are so many companies looking for workers and too many advertisements out there for you to have to be looking for newbies too!
Prepare, plan and execute.
